Academic Showcase
The Northwest College Academic Showcase at Northwest College is an annual event where students present their academic and creative work to the campus and community. It features research projects, presentations, performances, and interactive exhibits from a variety of programs.
It’s a chance for students to showcase what they’ve learned, practice presenting to an audience, and connect their work to real-world ideas—all in a more public, engaging setting than a typical classroom.
Phi Rho Pi (Nationals)
Phi Rho Pi is basically the national championship for community college speech and debate—where the best teams from across the country show up to compete (and yes, everyone there is good, so no easy rounds). It’s a week-long tournament packed with interpretation, public speaking, and debate events, where competitors go through multiple preliminary rounds just to make it to elimination rounds. In short, it’s intense, competitive, and kind of exhausting—but also one of the biggest highlights of the season.
For our team, Phi Rho Pi is where all the work pays off. It’s the stage where competitors represent Northwest College at the national level, and where performances turn into medals, recognition, and stories we’ll be talking about for years. So if you hear someone say they’re going to Phi Rho Pi… just know they’re not going on vacation—they’re going to compete. And hopefully win something while they’re at it.
Forensics Showcase
Forensics Showcase at Northwest College is where the Speech & Debate team finally gets to show off what they’ve been working on all season—without judges, without ballots, and without someone timing them down to the second. It’s a live performance of some of the team’s best speeches, interpretations, and debate-style pieces, all packed into one event for an audience that actually wants to be there (very rare, we know).
It’s also your chance to see what all those tournaments, practices, and late nights turn into. You’ll get a mix of serious, powerful performances and moments that make you laugh, think, or question how someone memorized all that. So come watch, support the team, and experience Speech & Debate in its natural habitat—on stage, slightly dramatic, and fully committed
Giving Day
Giving Day at Northwest College is actually a two-day fundraising marathon where students, alumni, and supporters come together to support programs across campus. For 48 hours, it’s all about giving back—sometimes with matching donations that can double (or even triple) your impact, which basically means your money works harder than you do during finals week.
And yes… this includes Speech & Debate . Your donation helps cover travel, tournaments, and everything that keeps the team competing and winning. So if you’ve ever enjoyed a round, a speech, or even just our chaos—this is your moment. Skip one unnecessary purchase, donate instead, and help keep the team going strong.
